Code of Conduct

Guidelines for students.

  1. Students are expected to bring their school diary every day, as it helps them stay organised and informed. In case a diary is misplaced, a new one can be purchased for Rs. 50/-, along with a note regarding the replacement, so that students can continue keeping track of their daily activities smoothly.

  2. All students are encouraged to come to school clean, well-groomed, and proudly dressed in the prescribed school uniform.

  3. Students are encouraged to apply for leave in writing to the Class teacher/Principal. Leave of more than two days should be taken only with prior approval. After returning, students should briefly note the reason for their absence in the regularity record to keep their attendance record complete.
  1. Students are advised to arrive at school at least 10 minutes before assembly to begin the day smoothly. Once the assembly bell rings, the gates will close, and latecomers may have to wait in the foyer/designated area. Repeated defaulters may have to return home with parental knowledge.

  2. Students are expected to take good care of school property. Any accidental damage or issues should be reported immediately to the appropriate authority so it can be addressed promptly.

  3. If any school property is damaged, the student responsible will be expected to make amends. Students are encouraged to report any damage they notice so the school can ensure a safe and clean environment for all.

  4. The school encourages regular attendance, respectful behaviour, honesty, courtesy, and neat personal appearance. Students and parents are expected to support and follow the school’s guidelines to maintain a positive learning environment.

  5. Students are expected to maintain good behaviour both inside and outside the school. Positive conduct everywhere reflects well on the school and helps build strong character.

  6. Students are encouraged to speak in English within the school premises to improve their communication skills and confidence.

  7. Students should remain on the school premises during school hours. If anyone needs to leave early, permission from the Principal is required to ensure their safety.

  8. All students are encouraged to participate in games and school activities, as these experiences support overall growth and teamwork.

  9. Students are expected to take care of their books and personal belongings. Being responsible helps prevent loss or damage.

  10. Students are advised not to wear jewellery to school so they can participate safely and comfortably in all activities.

  11. To maintain a focused learning environment, parents and guardians are requested not to enter classrooms or staff rooms during school hours.

  12. Maintaining silence during class hours helps create a calm and productive atmosphere for everyone.

  13. Throwing birthday parties in school or distributing gifts is not permitted. Students are also not allowed to come to school in casual dress on birthdays.

  14. VIS students are expected to display polite and respectful behaviour at all times. They should speak courteously to teachers, staff, and peers, remembering that their conduct reflects the values of the school.

  15. To maintain a healthy and safe environment, smoking and chewing pan are strictly prohibited for all students.

  16. Students should treat everyone with respect and protect the dignity of others. Name-calling, spreading rumours, or any hurtful behaviour is not acceptable at VIS.

  17. Mobile phones and cameras are strictly prohibited in school. The same will be confiscated and strict actions will be taken. Repeated actions may lead to suspension from the school.

  18. Students are not allowed to wear ornaments. Boys are expected to be in decent haircut, no earing or jewelleries.

  19. Pupils are responsible for the safe custody of their books and belongings by keeping them neatly labelled or named.

Rules Concerning Absence

  1. Leave of absence is not granted without prior written application from Parent/Guardian except, in case of unforeseen circumstances.
  2. Repeated absence without leave or unexplained absence for more than six working days renders the student liable to have his/her name struck off the rolls.
  3. For leave of absence for more than 6 days, parents must meet the Principal & get the leave granted.
  4. Absence from school during test/examination will never be condoned except in case of illness and will adversely affect the student’s grades in the test/examination. Neither re-test nor re-examination will be conducted. No average will be given. Application/ message for leave due to illness should be reported on the same day of the exam/test.
  5. Any student with less than 75% attendance shall not be allowed to appear in the final examination. Medical leave/any other leave will be counted as absence for counting of the attendance for the final examination.
  6. As per the DOE guidelines for classes III to VIII attendance of students will be a criteria for Internal Assessment.
  7. As per CBSE guidelines, a minimum 75% attendance is mandatory for the students of classes IX to XII.

The following are the acts of misconduct which would initiate a disciplinary action :

  1. Absence from classes without the permission of the Class Teacher/Vice-Principal/Principal.
  2. Misbehaviour towards teachers or any other employee of the school.
  3. Disobeying lawful orders of the Teachers/Vice Principal/Principal.
  4. Creating disturbance while the class is being taught.
  5. Bullying/rowdyism and rude behaviour, in & outside the school.
  6. Eve-teasing/bad behaviour toward girl-students, in & outside the school.
  7. Bringing electronic gadgets/mobile phones to the school.
  8. Indulging in acts of moral turpitude.
  9. Smoking/chewing gutkha/paan/khaini/vape, etc.
  10. Use of motor vehicles like scooty/moped, etc by the student and bringing these to school.
  11. Theft/pilferage of school/students’ property.
  12. Disfiguring or otherwise damaging any school property.
  13. Use of violence in any form.
  14. Casteism, communalism or practice of untouchability.
  15. Posting objectionable pictures/posts in the Social Media.
  16. The school follows a zero tolerance policy towards the above acts of misconduct. Principal shall take suitable action at school level depending upon gravity of misconduct, which may include :
    1. Verbal/written warning to the student and parents.
    2. Detention during the recess for completion of neglected class work.
    3. Suspension from attending classes/school for a specified working period.
      1. for 7 working days at the 1st instance
      2. for 15 working days at the 2nd instance
      3. shall be expelled from the school at the third instance.
    4. Recovery of loss through replacement of school property due to willful damage.
    5. Expulsion/rustication from school.
