Preparatory Stage Academics (Grades 3–5)
At VIS Godhra, the Preparatory Stage builds on the play-, discovery-, and activity-based learning of the Foundational Stage while gradually introducing more structured classroom experiences. During these three years, students engage with age-appropriate textbooks, children’s literature, and hands-on materials that strengthen their literacy, numeracy, and conceptual understanding. The curriculum focuses on key areas such as languages, mathematics, arts, physical education, and The World Around Us—an interdisciplinary domain that blends environmental awareness, social understanding, and elements of vocational learning.
Our pedagogy continues to emphasize active, experiential learning while slowly increasing students’ ability to work independently, participate in discussions, and maintain focus within a formal classroom setting. Assessments combine observation, worksheet-based tasks, and periodic written evaluations to support continuous and meaningful progress. Classrooms are arranged to balance structure with opportunities for collaboration, movement, and exploration. Generalist teachers guide most areas of learning, with support from specialist instructors in arts and physical education whenever required.
The Preparatory Stage at VIS Godhra aims to strengthen essential capacities in reading, writing, speaking, numeracy, and inquiry, ensuring that students are well-prepared for deeper subject-specific learning in the subsequent stages.
